Ready to Start Writing Your Next Life Chapter?

November 21, 2023

While it may initially seem like a somber thought, one of the most liberating and life-altering experiences you can have is to imagine yourself lying on your deathbed, reflecting on the life you've lived.

It's a privilege that many people never get to experience, and one that allows you to not look back in regret as from these moments of reflection, you can begin to truly grasp what truly matters to you, who and what should be your focus, and why it's crucial to live in the present and minimize your time dwelling on the past and future, which often underlies many people's anxieties.

Too many of us live as if we're going to live forever, making us more likely to go through the motions, allowing others to choose and influence the most important decisions and directions we make as well as not allowing us to truly live in the present.

Instead of waiting for ill health to force this introspection, why not take control and attempt this life changing exercise today?

Over the years, I've developed a personal philosophy rooted in the idea that your life is a series of chapters in your life's book, each one waiting to be written by you. Life can truly be a "choose-your-own-adventure" if you're willing to take responsibility and steer your own course.

We're all dealt a different set of life circumstances, and some have more opportunities, luck and privileges than others. However, the truth is, nearly all of us, despite our environments, can write our own chapters.

For me personally, the resilience I've gained and the reduction in anxiety have been significant by using this practice, and I hope it can benefit you in the same way.

So, why not grab a pen and paper or your phone, find some quiet time for reflection, and imagine yourself in your final days to identify what truly matters to you, and who and what should be your focus?

Then you can start writing your next chapter, the one that is most authentic to you.
